Abydos Temple

Abydos was the cult center of Osiris and one of the most sacred places in ancient Egypt. The temple of Seti I is celebrated for the delicacy of its raised reliefs, considered among the finest carving to survive from the ancient world.

Behind the temple lies the Osireion, a massive, enigmatic structure of huge stone blocks, and inside is the Abydos King List recording the pharaohs who came before Seti. It is a longer drive from Luxor but deeply rewarding.
