Overview
The three-island route out of Hurghada — Magawish, Amwaj and Abu Minqar — is one of the Red Sea's most rewarding day trips: clear turquoise water, white sand, and enough time in each place to actually unwind. The day balances shallow, easy swimming close to shore with quieter stops further out.
Magawish Island is one of Hurghada's largest and best known, with long beaches and clear water. The reef sits close in, so it's a good place to snorkel over coral and colourful fish without swimming far from shore.
Amwaj Island is the stop for slowing down. Calm water in shifting blues and greens surrounds it, there's music on the island, and several spots worth photographing — it suits floating, sunbathing and doing very little.
Abu Minqar Island is known locally as the Maldives of Hurghada: bright white sand, water so shallow and clear it barely reads as water, and no buildings at all. Mangroves grow across the island, with coral and colourful fish in the shallows around it.
Between the islands the yacht stops at one of the better snorkelling sites in this stretch of the Red Sea. Lunch and drinks are served on board, snorkelling gear is provided, and the day begins and ends with air-conditioned pickup from your Hurghada hotel.
