Best Time to Visit Luxor
Luxor is a year-round destination, but the season you choose changes everything from the heat to the crowds.
Luxor's climate is desert dry and, in summer, very hot. Choosing the right season, and the right time of day, makes a huge difference to your experience.
October to April: peak season
These cooler months are the most comfortable for sightseeing, with warm days and mild evenings. It is the busiest and most popular time, so book tours and balloon flights ahead.
May to September: hot but quiet
Summer brings intense heat, often above 40°C. If you visit, start at dawn, keep midday for rest and enjoy far smaller crowds and lower prices.
Time of day matters most
- Visit tombs and West Bank sites early in the morning.
- Rest or enjoy indoor sites during the midday heat.
- Save Luxor Temple for the cooler, illuminated evening.
