The Mega Desert Safari runs from mid-afternoon into the evening, long enough to cover proper desert terrain and finish with a full camp experience as the light changes. The safari itself uses three vehicles in sequence: quad bikes carry you into the open desert, spider buggies add a faster, rougher ride across the terrain, and a 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser takes the group deep into the mountain valleys to reach the Bedouin village. Each vehicle covers different ground and offers a different view of the Eastern Desert.
At the Bedouin camp the pace slows down. Camel rides, Bedouin tea, freshly baked flatbread made on an open fire, and a look at the natural herb pharmacy are part of the stop. This is the unhurried part of the day — the part most people remember.
After dinner, a live entertainment show brings together Tanoura spinning, a magic act and an oriental performance. The return journey back to the safari station often coincides with the last of the evening light over the desert.
